Wood I?!

It was about 6 PM when we left the Hernandez house. We decided it was time to find a hotel for the night, and then have some dinner. We stayed in a hotel on the main street for about $25. It was chilly when we got up the next morning; I could see my breath when I went out onto the balcony. The clouds were hanging low over the peaks of the mountains around the town. Locals were walking the streets to wherever they go on a Saturday morning. My brother came out to the balcony, and I said: “I have to go back and talk to Hector for a minute”. It occurred to me that I had no clue what wood materials my new guitar was made from.

We walked to his house and caught him just as he was riding off on his ten speed. With a little more translation and guess work, I wrote down the details of the guitar I had purchased. We said our good byes again, and began the walk back to the car. A couple of steps in, my brother said: “You know, if you're going to buy a guitar, why not get the nicer one you tried?”. I took a 180, and said: “Let's go!”. Hector whizzed by us, and we had to yell to get his attention. He rode up to us, and I explained that I wanted to buy the other guitar. Back in his living room, we haggled over the price of the guitar for quite a while. The evening before, Hector had reduced the price of this one by 200 pesos, making it 2,800. He was unwilling to go down any further. Just when I figured I'd keep the one I already bought, I got an idea. I pulled out 600 pesos, and slapped the money down in front of him. I said: “That's it”. He looked at the money for a few seconds, and then said: “Si”. Nothing like flashing the cash to seal the deal! I made sure that I got all the information about this guitar, and we left.
